Because 90% of our articles end with a question, this time I will also start with one: How many of you ever dreamed of owning a luxury watch? 

Let’s try to be really honest here and not jump to judgments like “luxury is bad”, “being is better than having”, “goods cannot make you happy”, etc. I am pretty sure we all have moments when we fantasize about a mansion, butlers, custom made suits, luxury watches and fancy muscles cars, don’t we? Then why can I still hear some of you telling me that is not the meaning of life?!No, the meaning of life is to be happy doing what you love and that will eventually make you wealthy.

When you become wealthy, though, it is very wise to pay yourself first and show some self-love before you go ahead and help everyone else (same principle as when you travel: put your oxygen mask first!). Why? Because if you are not happy, if you don’t invest in yourself, you will not be able to help others. You do not have to spend $1,000 on a watch, you can start with a $400 one and see how you feel!

Today, I interview Aaron Hallerman, co-founder at Vincero Collective, who will talk about the company & teach you a few important aspects about watches and luxury goods.

THE INTERVIEW

Mihai Herman: Please explain to our readers in 2-3 sentences what is that you do and what’s the gap within the market that you are trying to fill?

Aaron Hallerman: We make premium watches and leather accessories and remove the brand name markups to make luxury goods more accessible to men. All men can’t afford to buy luxury goods from designer brands with high markups costing $500-$1500. So we decided to use the same factories and materials as these brands, but sell directly online to minimize overhead and make these amazing products more affordable for guys.

MH: I like that: quality but affordable. I am curious what is the vision behind Vincero Collective?

AH: We want to create a collection of amazing, yet affordable men’s goods and do so alongside our community. This is why we crowdfund each new collection we release so that our members can curate the products we make before they are even produced. This allows us to offer them at even bigger discounts as well!

MH: Is it true that a watch can say a lot about a man, but what do you want your watches to say about the one that’s wearing them?

AH: We believe our watches are meant for people who want to stand out, people who don’t want to wear the same watch every other guy has on. Our watches bring a unique touch of class that fit well with both formal and casual settings. 

MH: This might be too mainstream, but I feel like a lot of people don’t know the difference between Quartz and Mechanical Movement? Which one is better? Do you produce both?

AH: You are correct many people don’t know the difference between the two types of movements. Quartz movements are battery powered while mechanical (automatic) movements are powered by movement and typically have a sweeping movement that many guys like to see. Mechanical watches are much more intricate and are therefore typically more expensive as well. We offer both types of movements because we want to give our customers a variety of options and price points.

MH: Glad we clarified that! Every company bets on something with every new product that they launch. What are the “secret” ingredients that make your watches of the highest quality?

AH: Materials, Craft and Unique Design are the ingredients that distinguish our watches. We use the same factories that luxury brands do, but use unique materials and modern design to make our products stand out from others.

MH: If you had to choose just one of the “secret ingredients”, which one would you choose to incorporate in your watches?

AH: I think the most important thing about our watches is mixing unique, modern design (Ex: marble on our watch dials) and making these kinds of special timepieces still affordable for guys.

MH: Since you have a lot of experience in this industry, explain to our readers how do you distinguish a luxury watch from a regular one?

AH: A “luxury” watch is a watch that uses high-quality materials and is built to last a long time. We use the same factories that many of the leading watchmakers do and use only the best materials when it comes to leather, stainless steel, sapphire glass, etc. so that our watches will last a lifetime and be passed on to future generations.

MH: What is one thing our readers could look at and tell if a watch is high quality or not?

AH: It’s hard to say there is only one thing you can look at to determine if a watch is high quality or not because there are so many factors. I think the most important things to consider are the dial, glass and movement.

MH: And ultimately, what is your biggest goal, as a company?

AH: Our biggest goal as a men’s collective is to provide men with one place online where they can get the highest quality accessories without having to break the bank. We realize men want quality watches and other accessories, but they shouldn’t have to pay crazy prices for them as they do now. We provide a unique retail experience in order to offer premium goods at radically affordable prices.
