Brioni is an Italian high-end fashion house founded in 1945. It mostly specializes in hand-made suits and was recently acquired by Kering in 2011. It began business after World War 2 when tailor Nazareno Fonticoli and his partner Gaetoni Savini opened up their first shop in Rome.

Lets take a look at the Brioni Spring and Summer collections for 2014.

The model above is wearing a Bironi check lilac shirt, and a grey plaid short sleeve sweatshirt with burgundy sleeves and neck detailing, which is matched with grey and faint blue checked suit trousers and black smart shoes to give a casual but smart look.

He is wearing a grey with burgundy stripe check jacket, partnered with a burgundy jumper with with stripe detailing across the middle with a baby pink shirt. He also wears grey suit pants with black shoes to once again give you casual but elegant look.

The outfits are smart but also quite casual looking.

Here are a few more shots of Brioni’s SS14 Collection and as you can see they’ve gone for a grey plaid or check look for most of their designs. These designs are included on jackets, jumpers, trousers and blazers. All outfits have been paired with smart black shoes.

In this collection they’ve also gone for dark subtle colors instead of bright and exuberant ones to give their outfits a more quiet and distinguished approach instead of loud and obnoxious. Blue, burgundy red, grey, black are all notable colors used in the collection.

These particular outfits struck me. Why? Because they’re unorthodox. The outfit on the right is strange as the coat is in the style of a lab coat. Unlike the normal white lab coat, it has a purplish tone to it, it’s not a style you expect to see on the street, not where I’m from anyway.

Brioni could be on the way to creating a new style sensation. I’m a huge fan of the outfit on the left, there’s nothing like a well tailored suit and a grey plaid suit hits the pot for me, matched with an ice white shirt and and grey tie, it’s simple but elegant.
